Localised polution in 1969 started this and has now been enshrined as constant pollution that keeps jounalists employed
Happy hanukkah, Merry christmas, happy ramadan to the end of time – or to simplify – Happy Earth day. Nothing will be fixed – except the grins of the empty minded idiots who think this means anything.
Huummmmm… welllllllllllllllllllll… I only went to one, that was the first one in ’69. If my experience was typical, I am very typical, then it’s good for getting out of classes on a nice, sunny spring day and going down to the Philadelphia Art Museum (the one Rockey made famous) and catching some rays and playing a little frisbee and BSing about a bunch of nothing-important things I couldn’t remember a day or two later, much less today. I think there were maybe 10-12 of us. If it hadn’t been “Earth Day”, and if it hadn’t been the first, and if there hadn’t been more to follow, I don’t think it would have been good for anything, and not even a memory. But.. who was I, just a college kid, what did I know? I’m sure it’s “good” for something, if not, why do it? Peace Bro! Love! California here I come! (and all that stuff;-)
What? Not 1969? 1970? OK, sue me, we probably cut classes in 1969 too. Surprised Earth Day #1 didn’t make a bigger impression. Could have sworn it was ’69. But I KNOW I was there! Must’ve been. Getting a little old I guess. Peace Man!

What is it good for?
It’s a day to pay homage to one of its greatest advocates.
